Director Crash Course: Paul Thomas Anderson

Well, long time no see folks. It’s been a while!

As you can see, DIRECTOR SEASON has had a bit of a face lift, and is now called ‘Director Crash Course’. Nifty, right? Title aside, the premise remains the same: to watch as many films from a chosen director within a month. Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, Guillermo del Toro, and The Coen Brothers have all been given the special treatment already, and for July, it’s time to unravel the fascinating mind of Paul Thomas Anderson. Who’s excited? I’m excited.

Here are the (very few) Paul Thomas Anderson films that I have already seen, and will be revisited within the next month:

  • Boogie Nights (1997)
  • There Will Be Blood (2007)

And here are the films I aim to indulge over the month of July:

  • Hard Eight (1996)
  • Magnolia (1999)
  • Punch-Drunk Love (2002)
  • The Master (2012)
  • Inherent Vice (2014)
  • Junun (2015)
  • Phantom Thread (2017)
